Abstract
It is the purpose of this paper to show Foe's rejection in his native land and his acceptance and acclaim in Europe and particularly in France. It will be seen in this study that in this study that Poe's American contemporaries with some exceptions frowned upon the man and consequently on his works, while across the seas he was hailed almost immediately as one to be read, admired, and even imitated.
