Carol “Baby Doll Kit” Harris lost her mother, Mary “Grams” Braud Harris, and her aunt Clarice “Reecie” Braud Willis at the same time to covid. Members of various Mardi Gras Baby Doll groups wearing full regalia and matching satin face masks, who generally crowd together, lined the mortuary driveway single file and six feet apart in support of the Harris family. Harris is the founder of the black masking group Nawlins' Darlins Baby Dolls. She is instrumental in the annual" Blessing of Street" welcoming new Baby Doll maskers performing for their first Mardi Gras. Photographs of her mourning rituals for her mother and aunt were included in the exhibit Mystery in Motion.
