Abstract
"La Souveillant" had arrived with documents which stated that Louisiana was to be reannexed to France.
The city was in the greatest jubilation. Louisiana to be re annexed to France ! The young and the old, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of "La Belle France" thrilled at the thought of their mothers' protecting arms around them again. Forgotten was their abandonment by her to the vengeance of O'Reilly. Once more they were to be united. "Vive la Republic Francais !" Most grew eloquent, visionary---happy,
